Wedding Wednesday | I’m back! Save the Dates & To Do’s.

Well, it has been one hell of a hiatus. This blog wasn’t the only thing that has been neglected throughout the past few months. Some deep personal stuff came up, and the wedding planning itself was even on the back burner of my mind. However, I’m back, and the wedding planning is in full swing…with only 7 months remaining! Yikes.

Once again, I’ve added my To Do list below, and scratched off what has been accomplished since last time I’ve shared it with you (back in June). It seems like every time I cross something off the list, 3 more things get added! It is getting done, nevertheless.

  • Set the date
  • Set a budget
  • Create wedding planning binder
  • Choose bridal party
  • make bridal party proposal gifts
  • Choose color scheme
  • Research ceremony venues
  • Research reception venues
  • Choose ceremony and reception venues
  • Rent necessary equipment (tent, chairs etc)
  • Book photographer
  • Book officiant/commissioner
  • Choose music for ceremony
  • Choose bridesmaid dresses options
  • Create a guest list
  • Order the Save the Dates
  • Make wedding dress appointments
  • Decide on the wedding dress!
  • order Wedding dress
  • decide on Groomsmen attire
  • purchase Groom’s reception attire
  • Send out Save the Dates
  • Plan floral bouquets
  • Plan DIY Décor
  • Order invites
  • Send invites
  • Order wedding cake
  • Make hair and makeup appointment
  • Dress fittings
  • Obtain marriage license
  • Make wedding décor (guest book, centre pieces etc)
  • Write vows
  • purchase wedding bands
  • Make final payments
  • Make bridal party gifts
  • Plan bridal shower
  • Schedule Ceremony rehearsal
  • Schedule Rehearsal “dinner”
  • Book plane tickets

A good friend of mine (who is also my photographer) reminded me just weeks ago that regardless what gets done and what doesn’t get done, or what goes wrong on the big day – its still going to be perfect! I’m not going to stress a single minute over this and I’m really going to enjoy the process.  The goals I would like to accomplish this week are to narrow down my bridesmaid’s choices for their dresses, and the same for the groomsmen attire, and to choose the rest of the music for the ceremony. My goals for the month of January is to order my dress (non-negotiable), rent my tent and chairs, and order the wedding cake. Once those big items are completed by the end of this month, there will be a lot less to worry about in terms of getting it done in time. It is all coming together…despite the hiatus!

Another thing I want to share is our Save the Dates that we sent back in October! We wanted to do something really pretty and rustic…and cost efficient. The fact is, postage is not cheap at all anymore! To send 100+ Save the Dates now, and 100+ wedding invitations to follow just didn’t feel very budget friendly. I wanted to have a physical Save the Date, for keepsake purposes, as I assumed some people close to me would want too. So, while in Newfoundland visiting, I took to Vista Print and found a design I adored, and simply ordered 10 cards, at 49 cents each, and because I wasn’t at the North Pole, shipping costs were completely reasonable and it only took 5 days to arrive! I took a great quality photo of the Save the Date and sent them electronically to everyone on my list! It was quick, simple, and easy on the budget, and we got to keep one for the scrapbook!

Things are definitely coming together, and while my head and heart have been preoccupied with other things lately, it feels so good to be planning our special day again, and I’m so happy to be excited about it again. I know there’s a lot of amazing things coming to me and Kyle this year – 2018 is going to be one for the books!

As always, thanks for reading!

2017 in Review

At the end of 2016, arguably my best year ever, I reflected on the year in great pride and positivity, and can honestly say that I carried that attitude into the beginning of 2017. I predicted that 2017 would bring me great adventure and challenges, and I was definitely right about that. While 2017 didn’t exactly bring one happy event after the other as 2016 seemed to do, there were definitely a handful of learning experiences and changes everywhere I turned, and at the very least, it kept things interesting.

2017 was both harrowing and beautiful. It has taken me to places I never imaged I’d be and shown me experiences I couldn’t possibly make up. Within the first two months of the year, Kyle had graduated from RCMP Depot and we packed up our dog in our car and drove over 6000 kms to our new life, where I learned that not everywhere in Canada has got it good, that -25 degrees is considered mild, and that no matter what I did, I had to save the dogs. The rescuing dogs part – that has been the source of so much stress, pride and happiness and as I continue to change lives one fur baby at a time, it becomes more and more rewarding. Aside from rescuing dogs in need, I adopted two more into my pack, Leyna in March and Mauser…well whenever he chose us…sometime between March and August. Adding those darling dogs into our pack has created so much extra love in our hearts and it has been worth every moment and potty training accident. I’ve had to adjust to life as an RCMP spouse, and I’m learning the ropes on living so far away from family (and civilization).

While most of the events of this year may sound thrilling or come across as adventurous and fun, 2017 was one of the most challenging years I’ve had. It forced me to not just find strength but create it from the underbelly of my soul. It compelled me to believe that I was capable, just to prove to myself that I am. 2017 showed me hard times I’ve never known to demonstrate that I can conquer them and even showed me glimpses of the future, in effort to instil hopefulness within me for the happiness that lies ahead. I’ve learned that self doubt gets me nowhere, that taking care of myself is of the upmost importance (and I need to do better), and when my plate is piled high, I can handle it. I’ve learned the significance of saying NO, and will be implementing that immediately (as to not pile my plate high). I have learned that some people just can’t be helped and that for some people that’s all they need, and determining the difference is essential. I am learning to just relax and enjoy the little things, and to have more patience with the ones I love when I’m having a bad day – the day will pass, but hurt feelings take longer to heal. I’ve always known and have been shown again just how unconditional and boundless a mother’s love is. I also know that I really need to finish planning our wedding…

It has been a whirlwind of a year and I’m taking a lot away from the 365 day experience. So, I welcome 2018 and all the happiness, challenges, adventure, and surprises it has in store for us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!

ThursDIY | Floral Wall Decor

I just wanted to share this with y’all and quickly tell you how I put it together! I didn’t take step-by-step photos this time because I didn’t know I was going to even make this ahead of time, and it really was just so painfully easy! So, without further ado, the things you will need are:

  1. rustic photo frames (you can purchase them already distressed, or distress them yourself!)
  2. artificial flowers
  3. scrapbook paper
  4. scissors
  5. hot glue gun & glue

All you have to do is choose the scrapbook paper you like, cut it to size of the picture frame glass, and place it in the frame. Pick the flowers from the stems and with your hot glue gun, glue them to either the surface of the frame, or the paper (which you’ve placed in front of the glass so you can reuse the frame in the future if you wish! It really is that simple! Just have fun with it and here is a tip: place the flowers where you think you want them and play around with it a little before going in with the glue! You want to be sure you know where you want them beforehand! Then, you just go ahead and place them any way you want on your wall! Done.

Makeup Monday |Quest for Plump Lips Part III

It has been a while since I purchased a lip plumping product I’ve been dying to use! I wanted to test the plumping ability on a one-time usage as well as the plumping effect over time. I tested this product on my lips every day for an entire week, to see what progress it makes, if any, on a long term basis. So today I am going to break down my thoughts and feelings on the Too Faced lip Injections Ultimate Lip Plumper. Does it work?

You tell me!

I think I am convinced! The progress I’ve seen in a week of applications is undeniable. While this product is great for a quick plump before an evening out, it also has lasting plumping over time. I’ve applied it before bed, on top of a lip balm, just to keep them moisturized. I definitely see the results I was after!

The product does have a slight tingling, almost burning sensation…which sounds awful but it is definitely manageable, and the little discomfort subsides within 10 minutes! The formula is pretty sticky, so I recommend blotting it prior to a lipstick application, if you’ve applied it on a night out.

Ultimately, I really do enjoy this product. I see the results I want, both immediately and over time. The product retails at $29.00 CDN and is available at Sephora! They do have a newer product called the Lip Injection Extreme, and that is $39.00. I haven’t tried it, so I cannot say for certain that it does more than the original Lip Injection does, but if it works as good as the original, it is probably worth the money too.

As always, thank you for reading! Don’t forget to like my post and follow my blog before you leave! If you have any methods to achieving plumper lips, leave a comment below and let a girl in on your secret.

ThursDIY | Mouse Pad

Coming at cha with a new DIY! This one is quick and easy and it really adds some personality and style to your office space and computer desk! Since I’ve purchased my dream computer, I’ve just stacked my notebooks to serve as a makeshift mouse pad. I just felt that it wasn’t doing my desk justice what with the beautiful new equipment it was sporting. So, I dove head first into my craft supplies and came back up with little breath left and some cork and scrapbook paper in hand!

The things you will need are:

  • cork sheet
  • scrapbook paper of your choice
  • scissors
  • I used a bowl to trace the shape and size I wanted
  • paper craft glue
  • paint brush to apply the glue

Step One
Cut your cork sheet into the shape you want your mouse pad to be! I traced a bowl but you can obviously use whatever you want, or just eyeball it if you a gangsta.

Step Two
Now trace your cut out cork sheet onto the BACK of the scrapbook paper (just so you cannot see any pen markings on the nice designed side of the paper). If your scrapbook paper has intricate designs, be sure to plan out what part of the image you want to be displayed on your mouse pad before you cut! I forgot to pay attention to that, but luckily it worked out nicely.

Step Three
Paint some paper craft glue onto the cork sheet. Make sure you really get the edges of the cork so the paper doesn’t lift over time and usage. Careful not to use too much glue, it can cause your paper to get a little damp and create ripples.

Step Four
Gently lay down your scrapbook paper on top of the glue and press firmly down. The cork sheet is a little thin, so I laid some heavy books on top of the mouse pad to keep it from bowing up. Let the glue dry for several hours before running your mouse all over it!

That’s all there is to it! I think it looks absolutely perfect on my desk with my floral notepad and screensaver, of course! I’m so excited to implement this DIY mouse pad to decorate my desk for all the seasons and holidays throughout the year! It is just one more detail to add to the whole look of your home office (or Hobby Room as I call mine).

Tuesday Talks | Life Update

Hello my lovelies!

I know what you are thinking, and to answer the questions on your mind: YES! I have been practicing my disappearing act, and YES! I have succeeded in becoming Houdini. In all seriousness, honesty hour… life has just been happening and unfortunately, I haven’t made much time for myself and the things I love to do, like my blog, my makeup and DIY projects. You know you’ve got stuff going on when you only wear makeup twice in several weeks (especially when you usually wear a full face, daily). While I have missed yet another Makeup Monday, I have put Blushing Bride DIY on the forefront of my mind and the planning of posts to come has begun. For today, I just wanted to give you a little update on my life here in the north and what has been going on lately.

Living in the North

I’ve been living in this northern Canadian community for about 5 months now, and I have to say that I am settling in nicely. I’ll start a job in September, I’m connecting with new friends, slowly but surely getting my house organized and decorated, I’ve started my dog rescue mission, which is in full swing, and my own two dogs are keeping me busy and always making me smile! I have my moments when I wish I was still 5 minutes from Walmart and Michael’s Craft, and the access to healthy foods is limited here. The community I live in has many people causing trouble, but I’ve met some kind people that have renewed my faith – and the grocery store employees are great! I still get looked at differently when I walk by, and many first-time conversations begin with “you a cop or a teacher?”. I have to say the best part about this place is the RCMP members. We are quite like a family here, as we are all so very far from our blood. From backyard fires to BBQs and birthday parties, we do our best to let loose and enjoy each others company as often as possible, and I am grateful for that. This place can mess with your head if you don’t have a support system. All in all, the adjustment period has gone smoothly and I’m in no way unhappy with my life here.

Northern Light Dog Rescue

This has become my passion project! I adopted Leyna from my new friend Dana, who was a psychiatric nurse here in the community. She took it upon herself to rescue as many stray dogs as possible while living here, one of which was my sweet girl Leyna. Leyna and her litter mates were bottle fed and nursed back to health after being born and surviving two weeks in disgustingly cold temperatures. Dana inspired me, and I began picking her brain about what rescuing dogs entailed. She basically taught me everything she knew, and took me along with her during vaccination calls, and together, before she left, we joined forces with volunteers and successfully removed 56 dogs from the community on two separate hauls. Dana has since moved back home and have left  me with the task of rescuing these beautiful dogs. I have called my mission the Northern Light Dog Rescue, and so far, with some guidance by Dana, I have 60 rescues to my name. Stay tuned for more information about NLDR and a possible Go Fund me account I’ll be activating so I can continue being the voice for the stray dogs who deserve a happy life! I strive to be the light at the end of the tunnel for the dogs of this community.

Leyna – Post Op

img_0987.jpg
Speaking of dogs…my little runt has made her recovery from the spay surgery quite difficult. What a stressful week it has been. The active and excited pup just couldn’t keep still, and caused some serious swelling around the incision site, resulting in some scary fluid drainage and a very stressful momma. I’m happy to report that she’s doing much better, and, though it meant some serious kennel time and dealing with an annoying Elizabethan collar, she’s finally back on the mend. She is such a turkey.

Wedding Planning

It is in full swing! Now less than year away, the clock is ticking. I have made some progress in the planning but ultimately I still have so much to accomplish before I say I do! I’m trying not to stress out and I have been relying heavily on my mom and my BFFs to get me through. I’m so excited for our big day. Wedding Wednesday will return, I promise. Hand to God.

A Trip Home

I am so ready to get back to the island! I am eager to spend time by the ocean at my grandmother’s house, sip coffee and gossip with Leslie, have sleepovers with Chelsea in her new home, craft and laugh with my mom, listen to my dad sing live, enjoy thanksgiving Newfoundland style, and stand by Emily as she marries her soul mate! October can’t possibly come soon enough. I’ll be purchasing my plane ticket this week and I CAN’T WAIT! I’ll be spending a whole 4 weeks in total bliss. Bring. It. On.

Working’ on my Fitness

When am I not? Pfffft. Wedding dress shopping will commence while in Newfoundland and I am really trying to be healthy and happy. I’ve been going to the gym daily, and while I really need to work on the nutrition aspect of a healthier life, I am proud that I have fired up the fitness game. I always feel so much better mentally when I am working out and eating right. My confidence shoots to new levels and I am overall just a happier person, which is great for everyone around me…especially Kyle! I can be a real grouch when I pig out. I’m working on that.

It feels so great to be writing again. It’s funny that writing really helps me destress but it is when I am most stressed that I do the least writing. Another thing I am working on. In any case, I am really going to focus on getting back to posting twice a week, at least, and putting out content worth reading. I really appreciate the support and understanding during my ghost phase. y’all are stars.

That is about all I have to report for now. Life is good and all is well. As always, thank you so much for reading. Don’t forget to follow Blushing Bride DIY before you leave.

xoxo,
blushing bride.

Makeup Monday | Storybook Cosmetics Wizard Wands Makeup Brushes REVIEW

Hello my beauties! I’m back with another Makeup Monday and today I’m fan-girling hard over the Storybook Cosmetics Wizard Wands! Anyone who knows me knows that I am, like most people, obsessed with the wizarding world of Harry Potter. (Hufflepuff for life). This obsession includes reading the novels and watching the movies too many times to count, analyzing plot holes and conspiracy theories, owning a custom made life size Nimbus 2000 (made by my amazing fiancé), owning figurines, wearing a Marauder’s Map dress, rocking the alumni Hufflepuff Quidditch attire and pretty much everything in between. Needless to say, when these Wizard Wand brushes went viral, I flipped. Believing it more to be an elusive, mythical internet item rather than an attainable product, I simply just swooned at the computer screen whenever they’d pop up! My mother had other plans! She surprised me with these bad boys in the most recent care package and I’m ready to jump in and tell you all how I feel and what I think about these brushes.

First, let me say that these brushes feel so high quality! They are not flimsy or hallow plastic and while they are heavier than the average well made brush, they also don’t weigh too much. The bristles are extremely soft, and while the blending brush bristles are loosely packed, the others feel quite dense.

So, we have 5 eye brushes here (in order from left to right): Angled Liner, Angled Fluffy Blending, Pencil, Fluffy Blending, Flat Packer.

Angled Liner Brush

this has dense bristles and it is great for brows or eye liner. It is a little thicker than I am used to for both my brows and eyeliner, but it seems like a great brush. It is modelled after Hermione’s wand.

Angled Fluffy Brush

This has loosely packed and longer bristles. I would use this brush for blending shadows into the crease or under eye, and it would be perfect for nose contouring. This represents Ron’s wand.

Pencil Brush

The bristles are more densely packed for this brush and the size and shape is perfect for taking shadows to your under eye! This one looks like Harry’s wand.

Fluffy Blending Brush

This has loosely packed bristles and they are longer bristles like the angled fluffy. This is great for blending shadows into the crease. It is a little longer and looser than I am used to, so I am eager to see how well it blends. This is modelled after the Elder Wand, or, Dumbledore’s wand.

Flat Packer Brush

This is another densely packed brush, perfect for packing colour on the lid. That’s all I can really say. You can absolutely never have enough of these little guys, they are excellent and this adorable wand is no different! It resembles Voldemort’s wand.

So, this morning, as I gulped down my coffee and attempted to keep myself awake for the next newborn puppy feeding, I played around with these brushes and dipped into my Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Pro Palette to test the quality and performances of the Wizard Wands.

These brushes definitely perform really well! They blended the shadows very nicely and while the longer and loosely packed bristles of the fluffy blending brush made for a lighter blend to build on top of, it still worked so nicely and I know I’ll be reaching for it often, as they are my all time favourite type of eye brush! I spritzed a little Mac Fix+ to my flat packer brush for the lid colour and it worked beautifully as well. The pencil brush is a great size, and the bristles were so soft! They didn’t feel cheap or scratchy on my eyes which is better than some of the other pencil brushes I own. The brushes fit nicely into my hand and were definitely not too heavy to hold and control. I love these brushes! I will be reaching for them all on a regular basis and COME ON! The detail and the accurate replicas of our favourite character’s wands was superb! I’m so happy that I can display these beautiful brushes at my vanity so I can stare in adoration every time I sit down to do my makeup!

Time to give my new favourite brushes a bath! As always, thanks for reading! Don’t forget to like and follow my page before you leave.

Makeup Monday | City Haul

First and foremost, my apologies for the delay in my posts and a huge thank you for your understanding! Without further ado, here’s what I purchased while in the city!

Too Faced Lip Injection – Ultimate Lip Plumper

I bet you can guess why I picked this up! While I won’t say too much about this product just yet, know that I will be putting this product to the test and see if it backs up the claims it has for plumping my lips! So with that being said, stay tuned for a future Makeup Monday Lip Plumping Quest. Does it work?

BUXOM Full-On Lip Cream

IMG_0399Oh, look! Another product claiming to have a plumping effect! You can see where this is going. I picked up this “glossy pout, plumping shine” lip product in the shade White Russian! Once again, I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but I have tried this a few times so far, and I’m definitely liking it.

Mac Matte Lipstick – Please Me

While living back home, I had no access to a MAC Cosmetics counter in the entire province. Now, being only a 6.5 hour drive away, I tend to make a point of picking up a Mac lipstick every time we go to the city. They are by far my favourite lipsticks, which I know is a bold statement given how many brands have released incredible lip products. There’s just something about a Mac lipstick that does it for me. Be it the smell, the packaging, the formula…probably all of the above. I just love them! I’m digging this shade in Please Me which is a muted rosy tinted pink, perfect for summer!

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette

I know I am painfully late to this party but oh my word. It had been on my list of products to own for quite some time but I’ve been in the business of saving money and I couldn’t justify spending the cash on this! Luckily, its impossible to impulse buy while living way up north and having an expired credit card, so I had time to sit on it for a while until our scheduled trip to the city. In that time I had watched plenty of YouTube videos about the product and my interest grew. It wasn’t until I asked my sister-in-law her honest opinion on whether or not I should purchase it that I had made up my mind. She told me she used it daily and that it was worth every dime! SOLD. I’m in love. I have only used it a few times, but already I can tell you that the pigmentation and blend-ability of these shades are out of this world! I can’t say I regret buying it…I’m kind of obsessed. Near & Dear to my heart.

Wet n Wild Eye Shadow Trio – Walking on Egg Shells

IMG_0403

I picked up this little bad boy at Walmart because I have the perfect post in mind to utilize this little trio. My lips are sealed on what exactly that post will be, but these eyes shadows are really pretty and super affordable.

L’Oreal Paris – Infallible Pro Spray & Set

IMG_0408

I needed a drug store priced setting spray and because the infallible foundations are so great, I wanted to try out this product from that line too. It is supposed to do what all setting sprays are created to do: prolong the wear of your makeup, set down the product and melt the powders into the skin! I’ve only used this a handful of times, but I think it definitely prolongs my makeup! I like it so far.

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

IMG_0411

If I’m being honest, this wasn’t the product I originally intended on picking up. I had my eyes on the new Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara, but, while it is released in the states I have yet to find it in Canada! So, I picked up this one instead and I am not disappointed! The applicator is designed to give you fanned out volume and it claims to lengthen and stretch every lash. I picked it up in the shade Blackest Black and it is waterproof! I’m a fan of the packaging too…(but I am desperate to have the Voluminous Lash Paradise because it is supposed to be fantastic and the tube is PINK!)

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails / Complete Salon Manicure polishes

IMG_0417

I just grabbed these two shades of nail polishes. There’s no real explanation, the colours just spoke to me! I also really liked them as a combo, so I did a little water marble on my middle finger nail! I need practice with that technique..I hadn’t done it since 2011! I picked up the Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in the shade “Breezy Blue” and the Complete Salon Manicure in the shade “Bow to the Queen”. I like applying these to false nails, because my natural nail beds are very oily, so nail polish doesn’t really stay in my nails very well!

REPURCHASED ITEMS

Photo on 2017-06-28 at 6.03 PM #2.jpg

I picked up a refill of my Nivea Gentle Cleansing Cream and the Nivea face wipes for sensitive skin. Are you surprised? I love these products! If you missed my Favourite Nivea Products post, check that out!

I also was lucky enough to finally get a new phone! No more iPhone 5c…its time for newer and better things with the iPhone 7 I’m pretty excited about it…clearly.

Photo on 2017-06-28 at 6.04 PM

I also picked up a new camera battery, as my old one somehow got lost in the move, so you can rest assured that the photo quality of the blog post images will be a lot better from here on out! We picked up a lot of items we needed for our house, like curtains and a new vacuum and a book shelve! All the boring adult stuff, basically. It was a very successful haul and we are all set here at home until our next visit to the city in around 6 weeks, when it will be time to stock up again!

As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to like and share my post and follow Blushing Bride DIY before you go!

Wedding Wednesday | To Do List Update

Ok, you guys! Let’s just chat for a minute because my head feels a little like it is about to explode. There are some days where I feel like I am on top of everything. That the wedding planning is going so smoothly its almost planning itself…or is it? Days like today I feel as if the whole thing is falling below my ears! I get overwhelmed thinking of all the things I need to accomplish in one year – all while being half way across the country. So, I just wanted to share my updated Check list, remind myself what I have already accomplished, and visualize what more needs to be done.

checklist-2077018_1920.jpg

Checklist

I am happy to report that there are a few more strikethrough lines than my first checklist post! Since last time, I have booked my photographer, created my guest list, chose my adorable Save the Dates, planned and organized my thoughts for the DIY decor, and booked a beauty guru for hair and makeup for myself and my squad. I’m hoping to book my marriage commissioner within the next few days and I am working on my bridesmaids proposal gifts when I return home from a trip to the city this weekend. I also need to turn my mind to ordering a wedding cake very soon, and renting the equipment needed for our backyard ceremony.

startup-593327_1920

Wedding planning is no walk in the park, and there is a reason most brides joke (at least 50% serious) about giving up and eloping! There’s no denying that it gets super overwhelming, and while everyone says “it will all come together” I know I am not the only one at the risk of losing sleep over the big day. I’m extremely lucky to have such amazing parents willing to help in every aspect because Lord knows I could not accomplish this without them. Another saving grace is the online community for local brides in my area (or my wedding’s area) and I’ve found great information and answers to all of my questions there.

I’m just ready for the day to come when I can put on my beautiful dress, tell my handsome man that I will love him forever and dance the night away with my favourite people in the world. That’s what I want this wedding to be.

As always, thanks for reading! If you have any suggestions on how to keep my cool, or any items on my list that I’m forgetting, comment below and don’t forget to like and share my post before you leave.

Makeup Monday | Quest For Plump Lips part II

The quest continues! While I absolutely loved the results from my first attempt (Part I), I’m ready to try a second technique to achieve pouty plump lips. Today I’m working with a DIY lip scrub, and the things you’ll need are:

  • A small dish
  • cinnamon powder
  • old tooth brush (with firm bristles)
  • a spatula or mixing tool
  • your favourite lip balm

Let’s get started!

  1. In a small dish, pour a teaspoon (or a heap…if you are like me and don’t measure anything) of cinnamon.
  2. Choose your favourite lip balm. I’m choosing Nivea Essential lip balm…of course!
  3. With a small spatula, or whatever mixing tool you have (fingers included), add some of your lip balm to the cinnamon and mix together until well combined, and resembling a brown paste.
  4. Take your old, firm bristled tooth brush, coat it in your paste, and begin applying it to your lips! Be very gentle during this process, and scrub in a circular motion for several minutes. You should begin to feel a tingly sensation. It should not burn or hurt, but it may feel a little spicy on your lips.
  5. With a paper towel, wipe away your scrub to reveal plumper lips!
